This photo was taken on Wednesday in Long Pond, CBS, and as you can see there was a beautiful sunset that evening.

I’ve since found that it was witnessed by several photographers.
My fellow Fotogeek thinks that it is somewhat “creepy” when this happens – when she thinks that another person was shooting nearby, at about the same time… perhaps even a photographer known primarily through an online photo sharing site. Whenever I’m witness to this realization (often accompanied by a look of shock and / or horror) I simply point out that, with the climate being what it is, Newfoundland photographers are fortunate not to physically trip over each other when shooting during fleeting moments of nice weather.

I drive Mt. Scio Road on a weekly basis and have noticed this building almost every time. Yesterday, I stopped to take a shot.

And after all this time… why did I take a photo? Quite frankly, we’re desperate for content.
Generally it’s my belief that, if the weather is not good, it’s pointless to shoot. Usually I won’t even bother to take the camera out if there’s a lack of nice, warm light.
So, what I’ve done here is a far-too-often-used trick. I’ve taken a boring shot from a dull day… and PSed the hell out of it. Don’t get me wrong – I believe that clever photo manipulation is a skill. Nor am I suggesting that every shot that has been majorly manipulated was originally bad. What I am suggesting is that every bad shot can be helped by some heavily applied filters.
