Good Friday

Saturday April 11th, 2009 @ 9:14 am by Bev

Although the weather said chance of showers I headed out with my better half to try out my new lens (Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6).  Fortunately we got out before any fog or rain came in.  It turned out to be a very calm day with a lot of chances for water reflection.  We drove toward  Whitbourne and turned off at Blaketown we did the entire peninsula coming back through Holyrood.  Here are some early shots from Old Shop to Whiteway.  With the zoom I need to meter for the sky more so that it is not so washed out, the sky was bluer than that.  I am off for Easter so there will be plenty of opportunities to play around with it.

Should I dare say it…SPRING!

Thursday May 22nd, 2008 @ 7:01 pm by Bev

Despite the icebergs that are still looming off the coast we have managed to pull off a couple of good days.  Imagine no snow fell on May 24th.  Well here is probably my last shot of an iceberg and my first of many sunny days (cross your fingers) as we dive into Spring.

Finally some nice weather!

Monday May 5th, 2008 @ 7:41 pm by Bev

Saturday after a day of tutoring the sun decided to shine. I was heading home and keeping an eye on Signal Hill as it went in and out of the fog. I had heard that we had an enormous amount of iceberg activity and wanted some pics but the harbour did not look promising. I checked out www.icebergfinder.com and saw bergs were all over the coast. So with the saddest of eyes I convinced my other half to go for a drive. We headed down the Southern Shore with the fog closing in on us. With the determination of a race car driver he headed into Witless Bay where I got some nice shots. I was talking to a local and he said to go to Tors Cove which we did (pics to come later) We saw 7 in Witless Bay and 15 in Tors Cove.

Depending on the angle this berg looked like a Rhino.
