Caplin Run
The last couple of days have been exciting with the Caplin rolling into Holyrood Beach. It brought all types of fishermen, kids, seagulls, squid and whales. The caplin are expected to be there for another few days so if you haven’t taken a drive out yet it is worth your while and while you are there if you want the best fries you have ever tasted visit the yellow Garfield’s chip truck. Yummy!

Mowing the Lawn
As many know we bought a house last August and we are involved in major renovations. Part of this is landscaping. I have been cutting back the weeds, wild roses and thistles since April and slowly I am winning. However it is taking the good out of me and I keep saying that we need to rent a goat. Every time I mow I say I am nearly dead and that maybe even a cow would do the job. Well I didn’t think Tony was really listening until I went out to the truck to once again get the lawn mower and found I had a choice in equipment. Mower vs: horse?

Just kidding this is Trigger the neighbourhood horse who got out of his pen. You should have seen my expression when I walked out of the house to come face to face with him. As my sister said “where are you living?”
What birds eat!
Changing up the post a little from birds to what they eat. Love the bird pictures however it depresses me a little that my pics do not even come close, so why try. While I was taking a break from home renovations I saw this little guy trying to make his way across the broken out concrete step. One small step for us one giant step for him.

Mother Nature in her glory
Although my pictures do not even remotely compare to Andreau’s with his fancy lens I figured I would share these pics. Yesterday on our way to Sergio’s Ice Cream Shop we saw these Eagles in Clarke’s Beach apparently they have been living there for the last five years and give the residents quite a show. There were two full grown and a yearling. They were quite the sight and had traffic backed up with everyone wanting to stop and have a look. One three year old girl said to her Daddy as he held her on the fence so she could see “Look at the pretty duckies Daddy”.

To HDR or not to HDR?
That is the question! The other morning I woke up to an incredible sunrise so donning my fashionable pjs I grabbed my camera and went out on my front deck and set up. I waited a few minutes until the sun looked like it was catching the Earth on fire and snapped away. When I came in I started looking through and generating HDR pics. I have only done HDR a few times and am a complete novice so I am not even sure I have the setting to its best. I just keep playing with it until I see something I like. Compared to regular shooting I think I still am a fan of natural. I like HDR better when other people do it and on cloudy days to give the clouds texture and depth. Oh well that is my opinion anyway. By the way this sunrise was in Conception Harbour taken from Kitchuses.
