I am still playing.  I went to Home Depot with my other half the other day and it was beautiful out.  The sky was freakishly blue and now that the snow has melted I could see the harbour.  So while he was shopping I decided to see how far my new lens would zoom in.  It works great but washes out, need to do a little HDR next time so it will match the colors of the regular lens more.  So here is my comparison.  I had my camera on a tripod so both pictures were taken from the same spot.

After the blogging frenzy last month, I feel tremendous pressure now to post something…. anything.

Problem is, I’ve not had time to shoot for quite some time. Simply put – I have nothing. As is clearly illustrated in these pictures.

The other geeks have been talking a lot about HDR and I have been reluctant to try as my computer skills seem to be diminishing the older I get.  I am still a little old school being trained in on 35mm and developing my own negs and pics.  But I finally took the plunge.  I was inspired as I had to play around with my new lens so I figured I might as well go for broke.  WOW!  I am a fan.  It makes the textures and colors pop.  My first couple were a little double exposed even with a tripod.  But practice makes perfect.  By the time I get this down I am sure the other geeks will have some other new toy.

Although the weather said chance of showers I headed out with my better half to try out my new lens (Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6).  Fortunately we got out before any fog or rain came in.  It turned out to be a very calm day with a lot of chances for water reflection.  We drove toward  Whitbourne and turned off at Blaketown we did the entire peninsula coming back through Holyrood.  Here are some early shots from Old Shop to Whiteway.  With the zoom I need to meter for the sky more so that it is not so washed out, the sky was bluer than that.  I am off for Easter so there will be plenty of opportunities to play around with it.

Ok, last time I posted about the eagles at Quidi Vidi, I was shut out and only managed a few pictures of ducks, seagulls and pigeons. Not this time! With the help of fellow fotogeek Randy, I managed to actually get some shots of a couple of juvenile eagles. Lots of fun, now if only they were even closer.
